Does anyone feel like they have enough time in the day? I know I certainly don’t! This year has brought a new season for Tyler and I, one that has challenged my ability to balance my time well. Because of this, I have made the tough decision to decrease the frequency in which I publish new posts. Here’s why…

The Shoutout Colorado magazine article:

Two years.

Two years is a long time when you’re in your early twenties. Two years is an associate degree in college. Two years is long enough to get promoted at work. Two years could bring new homes, new jobs, new mindsets, heck, even a couple of kids if you’re ambitious! I’ve dedicated almost two years to this blog, and how time has flown! I’d like to say my writing style has solidified over that span. I know my perspectives have matured. Most importantly, we’ve built relationships through this blog. That’s why I want to be honest with you, my friends.

I started this blog because I knew my ADHD brain would never be sufficient to retain all the details of the beautiful adventures we’ve shared. I started this blog to create a time capsule for our future family. I started this blog because I love telling stories for the people I care about. I have so many more stories to share! We anticipate we’ll still be checking off national parks through 2026, so there are plenty in store too!

But here’s the thing.

I have absolutely no concept of time. Tyler would be the first to tell you that my ambitions outspan my abilities. My boundless enthusiasm pushes me into new challenges, adventures, and opportunities. I pile my plate full with amazing projects. Then, astounded, I look down at my plate and say, “How did my plate get so full??”

When I started this blog, I was also writing a science fiction novel. I volunteered at a Christian pregnancy center. I was involved in countless roles at church. I gardened, landscaped, and preserved food. We spent our weekends visiting family near and far. We both worked full time, and often overtime too. Oh, and we travelled like lunatics!

Two years later, we’re still traveling like lunatics, but life at home is picking up. I got promoted at work, bringing extra responsibilities (and overtime lol). Tyler and I have recently started teaching a high school Sunday School class, which we’re very excited about! My garden has doubled in size, requiring some complicated planting and canning schedules in between roadtrips. Late-night canning has filled my shelves to bursting this year! We still work at least 40 hours a week, we prioritize time with family, and somewhere in the middle, we work on our own marriage too. Eventually, someday, we’d like to start a family of our own. Most recently, God has blessed me with a startling level of success while starting a photography business. I was even recently featured in a magazine article for Shoutout Colorado! This year has been unexpected, hectic, and so, so good. We couldn’t thank Him more for His abundance!

More than anything, our wonderful life has taught me that I’m not superhuman. Sometimes, I must say no in order to say yes. Passion projects must be set aside for more important things. (I’ll get back to that novel eventually!) But, when I find myself unable even to cook our weekly meals, I know the plate is too heavy. So here we are.

I strive to do the best in everything I do because I’m doing it all for His glory. Right now, I’m not giving my best, and for that, I am sorry. Here’s what I’m doing to fix it.

I’m taking the rest of September off from writing. Autumn is an especially busy season for photographers and travelers alike. I will be taking the time to visit our favorite Wyoming national parks and work through my long queue of photoshoots. When we return, I’ll resume publishing blog posts, but it will be on a biweekly basis instead of weekly. When I get caught up on everything, we will go back to weekly publishing!

I hope I am not disappointing everyone with this decision. It’s not something I want to do! This blog is very dear to my heart, and so are each of you! Your love and support through this little journey has uplifted me in countless ways! I am grateful for each and every one of you.

See you in a little bit! Thanks friends ❤️

-Grace

Hello from the middle of nowhere!

As I write this, we are eating cold peas out of tin cans. The log walls of a small cabin keep out most of the damp chill. The remnants of...

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

When Grace was a kid, one of her favorite pastimes was typing up “newspapers” about farm life and sending them to friends and family. As an adult, she’s moved on from writing about baby goats, but she still loves sharing stories with others. When she’s not telling embarrassing stories about herself, she occasionally publishes them here for your entertainment.

Both Grace and Tyler take the photos featured in the blog posts. The best pictures were certainly taken by Tyler, who’s an excellent photographer but doesn’t give himself any credit!
